Red Fox appears on Facebook under 'Red Fox Gallery'. Please 'like' us there!

Red Fox began 6 years ago when furniture maker Roger Cooke and his wife Liz, a novelist, historian and painter, decided to go into business together.

From the beginning, we wanted to stock unusual, hopefully unique, objects made by people, not machines; favouring craftsman-made pieces - from hand-knotted rugs to our own furniture and paintings. This past year we've also produced 'upcycled' painted (and also distressed 'shabby chic') furniture, always with an eye to vibrant colour - something unstuffy and fun to lift the spirits in these difficult times.

We always keep an eye on what is happening in the design world, and are following the current trend of retro and Danish design in some of our items.

For Dorset Art Weeks, Roger will be showing a fabulous range of his own designs inspired by the Arts & Crafts movement; he is also making console tables, bookshelves, tables and in particular a wonderful desk inspired by the post-modernist designs of James Leonard.  Over the next weeks, please refer back to the site to see Roger's finished items ready for DAW. The pre-DAW rush is certainly on in the Red Fox workshop!

Liz has many new paintings to show, a selection of which is in our 'Art' section. Next week, many of the images go off for their final buffing up at the framers, and will emerge beautifully presented and ready to buy (courtesy of our wonderfully talented framer Jane Foot).....

DORSET ART WEEKS runs from May 26th to June 10th. Red Fox is in the DAW brochure under Venue 260. We are open most days during this period - all details in the brochure, available from libraries, information centres, shops etc.

Additionally, we are at Dairy House Antiques, Semley, near Shaftesbury (scroll down for directions).

We're happy to announce that we have secured a new supplier for the very highest quality rugs and carpets. It has also enabled us to source rugs quicker, and a wider range. These rugs will be indicated by 'superior' in our description in the 'Rugs' section. And, as always, Red Fox's prices will be highly competitive : in fact, please go and look at large stores and other specialist sellers, and then compare our prices. We know that both for quality and price we won't disappoint.

If you have a particular type, pattern, colour or age of carpet or rug that you are looking for, let us know and we'll do our utmost to find it for you at a much lower price than you thought possible!

Additionally, we are now able to offer a CLEANING & REPAIR SERVICE to a very high standard. Please contact us for details.

 .... a masterpiece!

please check out Liz's latest book at Amazon. 'The Damnation of John Donellan' was published on 4th August and won a 4-star review from The Times last week from Iain Finlayson: 'Cooke's analysis is a masterpiece'. Kathryn Hughes in The Mail on Sunday this week said : 'A fascinating account of a Georgian cause celebre; Elizabeth Cooke conducts a fingertip search of the evidence...just as Kate Summerscale did brilliantly in The Suspicions of Mr.Whicher, Cooke focuses on legal procedure and forensic evidence to gripping effect. In the process she manages to crack open..domestic life and emotional dramas.'

The book is available online at Amazon, Waterstones, Foyles, Smiths, etc and in all good bookshops.

RED FOX is open Thursday and Friday 10-5 and Saturday 10-1.
